Open Educational Resources Across the Educational Landscape: Centering Quality and Equity

This two-day workshop will focus on OER resources as these resources are free of cost and fall under the creative commons open license. During this workshop, participants will identify quality OER across the educational landscape, apply the BranchED OER Equity Rubric as a tool for evaluating OER in a score norm activity, and discuss ideas of how to modify curriculum while ensuring fidelity and standards alignment. Participants can earn a digital badge at the successful completion of the score norm which they can share across their digital networks.

    Kimberly Igwe is a Professional Development Associate at the Branch Alliance for Educator Diversity (BranchED)Kimberly Igwe has devoted her work over the last 16 years to promote equitable education to all of our children so that they are able to have choices in their life decisions. Before joining BranchED as Professional Development Associate, she served as the Director of Academic Programs at Relay Graduate School of Education as well as an Assistant Professor of Practice. Before joining Relay, Kim taught 8th grade ELA in Charlotte Mecklenburg School System for eight years through Teach for America. During that time, Kim earned her MAT at UNC Charlotte and her National Board Certification in Secondary ELA.
