Abstract: BranchED identifies Data Empowerment as one of the key design principles of effective educator preparation programs (EPPs). Within this principle, we believe that quality teacher preparation utilizes an authentic and ongoing cycle of evidence-based improvement by asking thoughtful questions, taking data-informed action, and evaluating effectiveness. This cycle demonstrates an active culture of inquiry. The Data Empowerment for Continuous Improvement workshop will introduce participants to the BranchED Data Empowerment Toolkit designed to help EPPs build a foundation for continuous improvement. Participants will have the opportunity to explore and apply the toolkit, which includes tools focused on identifying and engaging stakeholders, using data equity focused guiding questions, inventorying data sources, and assessing institutional data use.
